The Band Played On

Once we decided to go with live music, our next step was to search out bands that specialize in weddings. Keeping everyone up and on the dance floor was a priority. And we had to consider our guests – we wanted music that wouldn’t make the flower girl ask embarrassing questions or make our grandparents blush. A band that would create some excitement, start us on our big adventure, and invite our guests to join us in celebrating each other.

We were lucky – found a band with wedding experience and great references pretty quick. The trick was to ask around and see what other newlyweds recommended. We met with the band leader and picked out songs for our entrance, first dance and the parents’ dance. Next, how to keep the party going from there?

Our band leader had some great ideas. We asked for song requests ahead of time so these could be worked into the mix. We kicked it off after dinner with classic rock to get everyone moving, then mixed in some slow, romantic tunes so everyone could cuddle – and we could sneak in a kiss while no one was looking!

Between the guys’ air guitar and Grandma’s moves, we have great memories of everyone getting down!
