Rehearsal Dinner Traditionally
Author: Marisilda Garcia
You’ve got an engagement ring, the invitations, the dress and everything else in place. You’re counting down to the moment you both say “I do,” and one detail left on your plate is the rehearsal dinner. If you’re sticking with tradition and are having your honey’s family take care of the details, congrats! All you have to do now is show up!
If you’re both deciding on the rehearsal dinner together or you just want to give your husband-to-be and his family some things to keep in mind, keep reading.
Traditionally, the groom’s parents host the rehearsal dinner on the night before the wedding, so most of the planning and organization is left up to them. However, if you both decide to host the rehearsal dinner on your own, be sure to express those feelings to your future in-laws to avoid starting off on the wrong foot.
As weddings become more and more extravagant, the tendency is to do the same with the rehearsal dinner. Remember, this evening is a representation of who you are as a couple in a more intimate setting with your bridal party, closest friends and family. Creating a lavish event at the cost of losing the intimacy and tranquility of the evening will distract attention from you and your groom.
Whether you choose a formal, sit down dinner or a backyard party catered at your parent’s house, the rehearsal dinner should reflect who you are as a couple and include a moment to say “thank you” to those involved.
The rehearsal is a chance for you to unwind, mingle and enjoy the evening before your wedding day so take a deep breath, smile, relax and don’t forget to eat!
Happy Planning!
