Mother of the Groom

You’ve anticipated this day to come for some time now: the day your son finds the woman of his dreams. With the wedding planning underway, there are some things to keep in mind regarding your role as Mother of the Groom and future Mother-in-Law.

While there is a tendency to become completely involved in all the excitement of the wedding plans, remember, this is your future daughter-in-law’s wedding day. This is the day that she gets to pick the dress, the flowers, the music and whatever else she and your son decide on for their nuptials. Take this time to cultivate the relationships being built between the three of you and the rest of the family.

It was said that the mother of the groom was supposed to wear beige. Well, no more! Mother of the groom, you are free to wear whatever color you desire…just make sure the focal point of the evening remains the bride and groom.

So what other things should you plan for? Traditionally, the mother of the groom lets guests know where the couple is registered, helps with late RSVPs, plans and hosts the rehearsal dinner and chooses the mother/son dance.

Happy Planning!
